God created a wonderful paradise, the Garden of Eden, and gave it to Adam and Eve. They could do anything they wanted and eat anything they wanted. The only rule given to them by God was that they could not eat from the forbidden tree, the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However, just as you have broken God's commandments, so also did Adam and Eve eat from the forbidden tree. They chose to disobey God.
When Adam disobeyed God, he brought sin into the world. Sin brought a host of consequences, the most terrible was death. Sin brought physical and spiritual death into the world and would eternally separate mankind from God. (sin separates us from God)
The Bible says that even if we obey all of God's laws (commandments) but one, we are lawbreakers and guilty sinners before Him. ("For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." James 2:10) So, no matter how religious we might be, or how many good deeds we may have done, we can never measure up to God's holiness. We are lost and separated from God.
But Jesus Christ, the Creator, loved us so much that He died on the cross and paid the penalty for our sins. He rose from the dead and is now alive. He offers each one of us forgiveness. Jesus Christ is the only way to gain forgiveness so that we can live eternally with God in heaven.
We must accept His gift of forgiveness, it cannot be earned by doing good or obeying each commandment. How do we accept this gift? Believe in Jesus Christ as your savior, the one through whom we gain access to the Father. Your faith is all that is required.
Would you like to acknowledge His gift and accept Jesus today?
You can pray a prayer like this, if you would like:
Dear God, I recognize my sin and rebellion against you. Thank you for allowing Jesus to take the punishment for my sin by dying on the cross. I would like Jesus to come into my life, to be my Savior, and my Lord. I accept His gift of salvation. Thank you Jesus for coming into my life.
Amen
As you come to know Jesus better, you will desire to do His will. We please God when we act in obedience...
